The AstroDatabank is a treasure trove of fascinating lives.

  • You can use it as an astrological People Magazine to look in on the charts of famous people.
  • You can improve your delineations, sorting planets by sign and house; observe actual effects that are only summarized in textbook definitions.
  • You can contribute to the field of astrology by producing groundbreaking studies with AstroSignatures.

The AstroDatabank contains over 20,000 birth records – all coded with Lois Rodden’s rating systemfor classifying data reliability. The data are coded with 660 personal characteristics, 125 events, and 45 types of relationships. There are currently over 60,000 categories attached to these 20,000 records.

We've built a little tour of the program to give you a sense of how you'd move around the product. Each stop on this tour is announced with a question, the steps, and an accompanying screen shot.

How do you display all that data?

There are 20 different views through which you can examine the data. Some focus on astrological information and others on biographical information.

20,000 birth data – that's a lot! How do I handle all this data?

The data can be filtered using astrological criteria or biographical criteria (personal characteristics, vocations, etc.) Defining filters is easy – it’s just a point-and-click process. You point at the symbol you want, and click.

For example, suppose you wanted to see everyone in the databank who share your Sun, Moon, and Ascendant. (We call these your astro clones.) To do this, you'd press the Filter button to bring up the Astrological Positions Filter form. Using this Astrological Positions Filter, you'd click Sun, then Aquarius, then the Add button to select all Aquarius suns. The Leo Moon and Capricorn Ascendant were entered in the same way.

When the OK button is pressed, you'd see the 'short list' of your astro clones.

Once I get my short list, can I see sign and degree for all planets?

The Astrological Positions view (one of over 20 views with which you can examine your short list) can show you that sign and degree list. Using the Show field, you can display:
- sign only,
- sign/degree,
- sign/house
- sign/degree/ house.

How do I see their biographies so I can see how much their lives parallel mine?

It's important to realize that this subset is 'sticky' – you can use other views to examine this same group. At this point you might want to switch to the biography view.

Notice that this view is showing the same ten records. We're just looking at them from a biographical point of view. And now for the piece de resistance – the Info button.

Biography and astrology – great! But how about a tool to compare the two?

For more information on either their biographical or astrological background, you'd click on the Info button to show a summary of both.

You can click on the Info button from any view to show the Info box, summarizing bio and astro for one person.

I love it! Sort of like a biographical interview with the person's chart in my lap. But it's not an astrology program unless I can see a wheel. Hey, where is that chart?

A chart is one click away. There is a chart button on every screen in AstroDatabank. When you press it AstroDatabank displays the current person's chart in your favorite charting program.

We know that astrologers become very partial to the wheel style that they use every day. That's why we didn't build our own wheel program. (Wouldn't that be reinventing the wheel? :-) We have worked with all of the most popular chart software vendors to build a bridge between our products. If by some small chance your charting program isn't on our list, just have the vendor contact us and we'll tell them what simple change is necessary for this to work. If all of the above fails, we include a shareware program so you can see wheels no matter what.

Fantastic! Can I get this printed out?

Among its many reports, AstroDatabank's Full Dossier report shows birth date and time; source notes and biography; categories, events, relationships; and the pertinent astrology points and aspects. We'll wind up this tour now by showing AstroDatabank's Full Dossier report for Tom Selleck.

Now what's all this hoopla about AstroSignatures?

AstroSignatures are not a new concept in astrology. When you count planets by element you are doing an AstroSignature calculation. AstroDatabank is the first astrology research program to put this in software. All other programs use filters. If you use a filter to find people with four planets in Earth you have to specify, 'Show me all the charts with Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus in Earth.' That eliminates too many people. You want to be able to say, 'Show me all the people with at least four planets in Earth.

AstroDatabank has taken this concept and generalized it so you can count anything in the chart. For the first time astrology researchers can develop models that replicate how a human astrologer analyzes a chart. For example, let’s design an AstroSignature for Eccentricity, and score Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Lawrence Welk based on this profile.

Rules for Eccentricity Rule Weight Mozart score Welk score
Uranus on an angle,
Orb less than 5 degrees
8 8
(Dec)
0
Uranus in hard aspect to Sun or Moon, Orb less than 5 degrees 6 6
(Moon)
0
Uranus in any aspect to an Inner Planet, Orb less than 6 degrees 2 4
(Sun, Ven)
1
(Moon)
Weighted count of Inner Planets in Aquarius 1 3
(Sn,Mr,Vn)
1
(Mercury)

Total Score

  21 2

Astrology works! Mozart does have a higher score than Welk.

Setting up an AstroSignature is much easier than you might think. Here's what the Eccentricity AstroSignature looks like on screen.

Think of the fun you’ll have building AstroSignatures such as Pragmatism, Mysticism, and Cynicism, and finding out who has the highest score among friends and famous people. You’ll also become a much better astrologer.
