Choosing Astrology Software

The differences among the programs amount to nuances and personal style and type (for example, Windows, Mac, Western and Vedic). I've used all the charting packages in this shop. They all do the basics very quickly and easily. The differences among Kepler, Solar Fire and Win*Star are so subtle that it would be impossible to describe in a few summary paragraphs. That's why we have gone to such great lengths to provide detailed information to help you find the most suitable charting software for yourself.

I suggest the following sequence for investigating charting software:

1. Start with the descriptions ('Product Description') of the products, provided by the software companies that makes them.
2. You can get a quick experience of each program by taking the guided tour with screen shots that we have built for each product.
3. If you have a very esoteric area of interest, you might be able to quickly eliminate a program by scanning the feature lists. If you are a double Virgo, we recommend printing out the feature lists and comparing the programs feature by feature.
4. Review the sample reports produced by each program. These are a great learning tool and something you can give to clients to take home. (Don't forget to look at the report writers that are compatible with each program.)
5. Buying any of these programs is the start of a long-term relationship with the author of the program. Therefore, we provide author interviews so you can get a personal sense about who designed the software and where they intend to take the program in the future.
6. You may compare your impressions with those of professional reviewers and ordinary astrologers you who have submitted comments on their experience of the program you are interested in buying.

One area that can make a significant difference in your choice of charting program is the ease with which you will be able to run your favorite report writer. If you choose reports from the same family as your charting software, you only have to enter the client data once and reports are a few clicks away. It's not a tragedy if your favorite report software is published by a different company than your charting program, it just means you will have to enter the birth data more than once. Interpretation reports are often overlooked by students as a useful training tool and by professionals as a significant source of additional revenue.
