I have been using Solar Fire now for over 10 years and have found that the programme continues to grow and expand. As a professional astrologer it provides me with some excellent tools as well as the option to personalise the different pages and create ones which I require. I have also found that the charts produced make good teaching materials as glyphs, aspects and wheels have a clarity which helps students understand the basic components.

I think all software should come with a free tutorial from the company. It took a good while to learn this software. I don't see that much of a difference with 5.1 to 6. - especially for the price. Any upgrade should be under $80-100.

I use Solar Fire in my practice and am constantly updating it to match my experience. I find the option to write your own interpretations a big plus. It is easy to learn and continues to be fun for years to come. One feature I would like to see in the future is a midpoints feature that allows us to write our own midpoint interpretations.

Most programs in this caliber come with a variety of page layouts. None of them show exactly - and only - what I want. Solar Fire allows you to custom design your own screen and printed page and wheel layouts, something no other Windows program lets you do. Nearly every other feature in this program is also customizable, including the text of the 'mini' interpretations that ship with it. Routine tasks can be automated via the Astrologer's Assistant. And, while hardware requirements are less significant in today's environment than they used to be, it's still nice to have a very capable program that will run well on a low end, memory limited laptop for the road.
